And let the empowering pregnancy, birth and post partum COMMENCE!
That’s right, dear reader, this morning I had a clearly defined, incontrovertible, conclusively positive pregnancy test! We are so excited and thrilled. I believe that the changes in our diets, and our sessions with a chiropractor and acupuncturist, as well as lots of prayer, have resulted in our new found state of gestation.
We are hoping that continued treatments will help us hold on to our growing latest addition, but I believe this time will be different from my last four pregnancies. One thing that is different already is how great I feel. My mental state is tip-top, whereas with my first three pregnancies, I suffered from debilitating depression from day one. Physically, I have never felt better (which really isn’t saying much…) It has been almost 2 weeks since I have had to use any kind of pain meds, and I have more energy every day.
Well, sorta. The past three days, I have reached a point where I’m pass-out-tired. But THAT is to be expected.
I am intending to chronicle this pregnancy and birth here on my blog. Our plan is to have a home waterbirth. I am due in mid-January, and have already put a call into my midwife, and my BFF, who will act as my doula.
We are not intending to seek any allopathic treatment throughout this pregnancy. Aside from chiropractic, acupuncture, midwife, and my homeopathic doctor, we are going to do this with as few interventions and “medicalization” as possible. It is there, should we need it (I live five minutes from a hospital if something goes wrong, and 40 minutes from some of the top maternity/neonatal hospitals in the country) but we are going forward with the knowledge that pregnancy and birth are normal and natural processes, that need little outside assistance and minimal observation to progress.
I’ve already started a wishlist of birthing tools on Amazon, and am very excited and hopeful for the next nine months!
YAY!!
